Grounds & Maintenance

Reports to: Business Office

Essential Job Functions:

Grounds Care

• Landscaping and Lawn Care: Mowing, Weeding, Trimming, Hardscape Projects
• Cleaning
• Rodent and/or Insect Control
• Seasonal Tasks: Snow Plowing, Leaf Blowing, etc. 
• Arena Raking for the Equestrian Barn

Service Days

• Organize, prepare for, and lead property service days for FSL staff work days and for volunteer group work days
• Cutting and stacking wood for wood burning furnaces and fire pits

Property/Equipment Support Care

• Wood burning furnace upkeep and feeding
• Summit vehicle and equipment care and cleaning
• Water sanitization and preparation as a developed system
• Property and equipment checks and reports as a developed system
• Manage and maintain the use, filling, and logging of fuel for Summit vehicles and equipment

Other as Determined by Business Office

• Develop and maintain systematic and efficient approaches to all tasks to ensure completion at a high level and in a timely manner to support organizational goals and needs. 
• Expense Request order submissions as applicable

‍

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Past experience in Grounds Care and/or Maintenance
• Must have experience with lawncare equipment and lawn care
• Good with working on grounds machinery
• Gardening experience or willingness to learn
• Handy work and occasional cleaning
• Experience on skid loader is helpful
• Snow plowing experience
• Landscape experience helpful
• Tractor experience helpful
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Flexible work schedule
• Prior cleaning experience strongly preferred
• Able to drive between properties, which include Five Star Life Office (Elkhart, IN), Summit Commercial Areas (Union, MI), and Five Star Life Early Learning Center (Osceola, IN)
